KANNUR: Thirteen students of Thalassery Brennen College were booked on Friday for bringing out a controversial college magazine with an objectionable cartoon linking sexuality to national anthem.

The case was registered by Dharmadom police under non-bailable sections based on a complaint given by ABVP stating that there were contents with sexual innuendos and anti-nationalism in the Magazine. 13 persons including the editor have been named as the accused.   .

The magazine named Pellet had published caricatures of a couple having sex in a cinema hall while national anthem is played on the screen. It had the caption which said patriotism that means standing up from chair.

There is also vulgar picture on another page.

The college magazine was published as part of the 125th year celebrations of the college. The college has the union led by SFI. Soon after the magazine turned controversial, an urgent meeting called by the College council decided to remove the two pages (12 and 84).

The distribution of magazine was also stalled and attempts are also on to retrieve the distributed copies.
