THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala called on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and held discussions at a time when the state continues to be in the grip of fever. He informed his anxiety on the spread of fever. He asked the government to take measures to prevent the spread of fever. The government as well as the health department are a total failure in it. He also asked the chief minister to find an immediate solution on the issue after health minister and health secretary hold talks with the officials.

There is anxiety on the rise of fever deaths. Thousands with fever from each district are reaching hospitals. There are insufficient beds in hospitals. There is a lack of doctors and medications also. Sanitation drive should be intensified. The governments earlier had taken necessary steps.

There were many officials who led mass cleaning campaign during rainy season. These officials were shifted by the present government. Chennithala apprised the chief minister about it. The opposition is not interested in staging any protests on this issue. Priority will be given for cleaning activities and helping the patients. Self-governing bodies should be entrusted for sanitation drive. I will lead the sanitation drive in my constituency in Haripad. Others MLAs should also engage in such activities.

Metro: Not for any controversy
In reply to a question, he said that he is not for any controversy in connection with Kochi Metro. We were not invited for the first ride. Kochi Metro was a dream project of Kerala. 90% of the work was completed during the tenure of Oommen Chandy. The UDF is not for any controversy on the project. He walked away when asked about BJP state chief Kummanam Rajashekaran’s Metro ride.
