THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Administrative Reforms Commission chairman V S Achuthanandan in a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sought the suspension of city police commissioner Yatheesh Chandran over the police brutality towards the protestors staging protest seeking to stop the construction work of the IOC plant being constructed at Puthuvype Janavasa Kendram. A comprehensive probe should be conducted on the actions of this police officer.

The people of the place are agitating on the issue. They don’t want development by hurting the lives of the public. At a time when the entire people have joined hands against a project, the government should evaluate the situation and hold talks with them. The people expect that from the LDF Government. The protestors complain that even Minister Mercykutty Amma assurances were not looked into. All these should be examined.

However, the approach of the police towards the strike cannot be justified at all. Their action has stained the image of the government. The police led by Yatheesh Chandra brutally beat up the protestors who staged a march to the high court junction. Today also the same incident happened.
