KASARGOD: Revenue officials removed illegal constructions at Chooripallam-Palathadukka, near Badiadukka, on government land. On receiving green signal from Collector K Jeevanbabu, a team of officials led by Kasaragod additional tahsildar E. Kunhikannan removed illegal structures using excavators in the locality, about 20 km from Kasaragod close to the Cherkala-Badiadukka road, a senior official said.

Officials said some people had laid foundations in a bid to construct houses on government land, said to have been distributed to the landless SC/ST families.

Protesting against the government move, a group of people staged a demonstration in front of the Pady village office on Wednesday.
