THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V S Sunil Kumar has said that encroachments will be evacuated no matter whether the encroacher is Dileep or someone bigger than him.

He said the report favourable to Dileep was given by the previous collector, and an order has been given to probe into this matter. “Also the revenue minister has given orders to take necessary action,” he said, and added: “The representatives of LDF have never supported encroachments. Such news are just to taint the image of LDF.”

Advocate Santosh had filed a complaint in 2014 that Dileep has built his multiplex ‘D Cinemaas’ on one acre of encroached land, which was given by the Thiru-Kochi ministry to the Sreedharamangalam Sreekrishna Temple to construct a mess hall even before the state of Kerala was formed.

The Kerala government had given orders to the then district collector M S Jaya to investigate this and give a report. Dileep built the multiplex on land brought together from eight people. The district collector had given a report that says that though 35 cents of land in the one acre has been encroached, Dileep’s registration proves that the land is entirely owned by him.

The revenue vigilance team had reinvestigated this in 2015 based on the orders given by land revenue commissioner after complaints were made again. The revenue vigilance team had given a report to the government rejecting the report given by the district collector that Dileep has ownership of the property. They also suggested appointing a commission to conduct a detailed investigation. But no action was taken since the last two years.

Following this, revenue minister E Chandrasekharan has given orders to the Thrissur district collector to conduct a detailed investigation.  The district collector has also been asked to submit a report as soon as possible, and take necessary action if found to be an encroachment.
