THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in a Facebook post, has said that the RSS is trying to force the Hindu lifestyle on all with the help of the Central Government. He added that if the attempt to push the Hindutva doctrine is not resisted, it will put the democracy and secularism of India into crisis.

He has said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has demanded all the state governments to take strict actions against cow vigilantes must also address this issue. He added that the PM must demand the RSS to stop intervening in the personal lives of others and suggesting what kind of a lifestyle that they should follow.

“What dress to wear, what to eat, are the personal choices of each and every man. That is a birth right of each citizen. It is a severe defiance to citizens’ rights to intervene in that and to attempt to change the society according to the extreme communal agenda of the RSS,” he said.
He has pointed out that many major national media have reported how the RSS try to push their ideology on others by saying propagating ideas like one should not light a candle on one’s birthday, forgo non vegetarian food, that women should wear sari and men kurta and pyjama on special occasions, not to watch TV, and not to say “Good morning.”

“The RSS claims that they are doing this to make people aware of our values but what they are actually doing is forcing the values prescribed in Manusmriti on families,” he complained.
