KOCHI: Director Ashiq Abu has said his relationship with actor Dileep got estranged after the former directed the film Rani Padmni with Dileep’s former wife Manju Warrier in the lead.

On his Facebook page, Ashiq Abu recalls his friendly relationship with Dileep from his days in Maharajas College.

“Since my days in Maharajas College, I have known Dileep and his brother. I got introduced to him during when he came to the college for the shoot of the Varnakazhchakal… We, who had no cinema link then, gave total support as a friend to Dileep, an ex-Maharajas student. He also returned all that love. He came to the college auditorium to watch our campus film, encouraged us…he donated money to our youth festival fund…came to college several times as guest,” he said.
