THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The by-election has been announced to the Malappuram Vengara assembly constituency, which had fallen vacant following the resignation of P K Kunhalikutty.

The Election Commission has announced that election to the seat will be held on October 11.    

The election to Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency will also happen on the same day. The notification on the election will be issued on Friday. The vote-counting will take place on October 15.

The last date for submitting the nomination is September 22. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on September 25. The last date for withdrawing the nomination will be September 27. The model code of conduct has come into effect in the constituency where the election has been declared.
