THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala State Women’s Commission chairperson C Josephine had earlier claimed that she received several threatening letters soon after the commission took a case against Poonjar MLA P C George for making insulting comments on the actress attacked in Kochi, but clarified that she has received no death-threats.

Nevertheless, saying that she’d hand over the letters to the DGP, she revealed she has received even human faeces through post.

“I’ve received no death-threats. However, it’s been a few days since I received threatening letters, and even human faeces through mail at the Commission office. It’s my maturity that I’m not reacting to such things in haste. No one must think the Women’s Commission can be silenced through such means,” she said.

She added: “Though the MLA became silent after he was given some answers, this sort of things started happening. Also, the MLA’s name is mentioned in some of the threatening letters.”

She explained that a case was filed against P C George for making insulting comments in public about the actress who got attacked in Kochi. There is no need of the Speaker’s permission to record the MLA’s statement, unless it is done in the premise of the Assembly.

“It’s my maturity to show consideration towards P C George. I’ve no liability to protect his privilege,” she said.

She also said that it’s natural that people show intolerance towards women who comes up with complaints, but many prominent women personalities from the film industry themselves have revealed that women working in the industry do face many kinds of harassments, Josephine said.
