KAHANGAD: A student was killed and another youth sustained serious injuries in a tanker-motorbike collision at Padannkkad, near here on Sunday. The tanker, carrying edible oil, hit the motorbike which was entering the national highway from a petrol bunk, the police said. Sijith, 20, son of Damodaran of Padannakkad, who was riding pillion in the motorbike was killed in the accident. He was a student at a computer institute. Sudhev, 21, a native of Neeleswaram, who was riding the motorbike, had been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru with serious injuries, the police said. The tanker which sped away after the incident was seized from Vellur, near Payyanur. The police have taken the truck driver into custody and have registered a case.
