THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has made a demand that former chief minister Oommen Chandy and other Congress leaders resign from the public posts they are holding and show decency in the wake of Solar Commission finding serious offences on their part.

“I’m welcoming the courage shown by the LDF government to acknowledge the Solar Commission report. The Commission’s report is factual and scrupulous and it endorses the allegation made by the LDF inside and outside the Assembly. It has found out that Oommen Chandy and other Congress leaders had taken bribe from Saritha S Nair and Team Solar and even sexually exploited her. Instructions have been given to consider sexual exploitation as bribery and take action against the offenders. The judicial commission appointed by the Oommen Chandy government has found the criminal role of the then chief minister’s office in the solar case. The action of the present government is a reply to the allegation that LDF made a secret understanding with the UDF to end the blockade at the chief minister’s office during Solar strike,” he said.

Kodiyeri also urged the government to cleanse the political scene by taking ideal action against the offenders in the solar scam that had maligned Kerala politics so that such things would not be repeated in future. “Those involved in the case had better quit their positions in public life,” he added.
