KANNUR: CPM-RSS workers were hacked at Panoor-palakool areas in Kannur on  Monday night. Elankodu Mandalam Karyavahak Sujeesh and CPM worker K P Sharath sustained injuries in the attacks.

Sujeesh has been admitted to Thalassery government hospital and Sharat has been admitted to Thalassery Cooperative hospital.

At around 10 pm, Sujeesh who went in a bike was waylaid and hacked by an anonymous gang. The BJP alleged that the CPM were behind the attack. The attack in Palakkoovu happened after this. In connection with this, several CPM men's houses were also attacked. Police have tightened security in the area to de-escalate tension.
