The Captur, a global car having sold more than a million units so far, is likely to give a tough fight to the Jeep Compass, which is priced at Rs 14.95 lakh and Mahindra XUV and Tata Hexa, though the last two are seven-seaters.

NEW DELHI: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) India today said it has received 10,000 bookings for its newly launched SUV, Jeep Compass. The company had opened pre-bookings for the SUV on June 19 before launching it on July 31 this year and has received over 92,000 enquiries so far, FCA India said in a statement.

NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki zipped past Infosys and ONGC in market capitalisation (m-cap) as its stock rose by 3 per cent today, adding Rs 6,563 crore to the value. The stock gained 3 per cent to end at Rs 7,451 on BSE. During the day, it went up by 3.25 per cent to Rs 7,469 -- its 52-week high. It was the top gainer on the BSE benchmark Sensex.

NEW DELHI: Leading automakers Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), Hyundai Motor India reported record annual sales for the fiscal ended March 31, driven by new models and robust demand for existing products. Tata Motors, Renault and Nissan India also posted sales growth in FY2016-17. For the 2016-17 fiscal, MSI posted a 9.8 per cent jump in total sales at 15,68,603 units, against 14,29,248 vehicles in 2015-16.

NEW DELHI: French auto major Renault today reported 26.8 per cent increase in sales at 11,198 units in India in February compared to the year-ago month. The company's arm, Renault India, had sold 8,834 units in the same month last year. Over the last few years, Renault has focused on establishing a strong base in India and has become one of the youngest and fastest growing automotive brands in the country, the company said in a statement.

The all-new Jaguar XF will be available in two options -- a 2-litre Ingenium diesel engine with a power output of 132 kW and a 2-litre petrol engine with a power output of 177 kW, the company said in a statement.

 
         Ambassador brand now gets a new owner in Peugeot    
 
 
NEW DELHI: The iconic brand Ambassador, which used to be a symbol of the high and mighty in power corridors, has changed hands, with Hindustan Motors selling it to European auto major Peugeot for Rs 80 crore. The C K Birla group firm has inked an agreement with Peugeot SA to this effect. As things stand, the manufacturing of Ambassador car has been discontinued.

 
         Car sales up 11%; passenger vehicles up 14% in Jan    
 
 
NEW DELHI: Domestic passenger vehicle sales rose 14.4 per cent to 2,65,320 units in January from 2,31,917 units in the same month last year. Domestic car sales were up 10.83 per cent at 1,86,523 units as against 1,68,303 units in January last year, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

NEW DELHI: German luxury carmaker Mercedes Benz today said it has revised downwards its sales growth target for this year in India from an original double digits to flat, mainly due to impact of demonetisation. The company, which sold 13,502 units last year, however, said it will be looking to grow double digits in 2017.
